The registered practical nurse (RPN) is responsible for providing direct resident care in accordance with the established care plan. The RPN will administer medications and treatments as prescribed, document care and progress, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure optimal resident outcomes.
The RPN will also provide education and support to residents and their families and will contribute to the overall operation of the long-term care home. Ensuring exceptional resident care is provided while following protocols and maintaining physicians’ orders is the primary focus of the RPN. To this end, they will observe, report, and record vital signs, symptoms, and conditions of residents, and initiate remedial health measures where appropriate.
Additionally, the RPN will organize, and direct functions and activities related to the provision of care to residents, assist in the management of the work of nursing and personal care staff, and train and professional development of new staff, referring concerns to the Director of Care as necessary.

Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
Registered/eligible for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario
Ability to work individually and as part of a team and prioritize tasks in order of urgency
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and good comprehension skills
Previous similar experience in long-term care an asset, with comprehensive knowledge of duties
