Manage the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Nursing, monitoring performance, conducting performance appraisals, and referring problems to the Director.
Ensure that nursing and support staff assigned to the department administer and evaluate resident care plans, assess resident needs, and provide resident care in accordance with established nursing standards and policies, physician orders, and administrative guidelines.
Assist in the assessment and monitoring of residents by developing, implementing and reviewing care plans, conducting ongoing assessments of resident status and making appropriate adjustments to care plans.

Minimum requirements
Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
Registered/eligible for registration with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario
Ability to work individually and as part of a team and prioritize tasks in order of urgency
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and good comprehension skills
Bonus qualifications
Previous similar experience in long-term care an asset, with comprehensive knowledge of duties
